THINKING AHEAD...
One of our very enthusiastic mentors
has offered to hold a yard sale
at her home.
The date we are looking at is 9/4/10 -
a Saturday. So begin now to put your
"stuff" aside that you will
no longer need.
MORE INFORMATION COMING
Baseball is a
GREAT AMERICAN PASTTIME;
every kid needs to experience it.
You can go on line to
check their schedule at:
www.oremowlz.com
Mentors and mentees can get in all
Orem Owlz home games free.
I am required to provide the Owlz
people with a list of our mentors
mentees - so if you wish to take
other guests, they will have to pay!
REMINDER
* Please mentor and report weekly. It is easy to go on the web site home page, click on "mentor" at the top of the page, fill out the form and click on "submit". This is a part of the commitment you all signed, and YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND.
* If you will be gone for the summer, or a part of it, and you haven't yet let Karla know, please do so. Also, be sure to discuss it with your mentee and his/her parent or guardian. Stay in touch by e-mail, phone, or card. You are still a mentor, even when you are gone, and it will build the trust between you and your mentee - a good thing!
If you have suggestions for fundraising for the Safety Net Carnival and Christmas party, please share them. We are not being reimbursed for food any longer, but I feel strongly that our traditional mentor/mentee activities are important, and hate to give them up. We have had the following suggestions so far:
- A benefit concert
- A sponsored long-distance bicycle ride
- A fundraiser at Miracle Bowl (bowling alley)
- A Carwash
- A "Garage Sale" in a public place
If any of you are interested in being on a committee to explore fundraising possibilities, and move on to plan and help facilitate it, it would be great! I am without interns for spring and summer, so I can only do what I can do. You may e-mail me, and I can put you in touch with one another.
